Massillon Celebrates 31-0 Win Over McKinley

A goal line stand and an ensuing 99 yard touchdown drive by Massillon set the tone for the 137th meeting between the Tigers and the Bulldogs, as Massillon dominated and shut McKinley 31-0.

It was the 11th straight win by the Cats in this rivalry.

The Pups last victory over the Tigers came back in 2015, when current NFL DE- for the Houston Texans, Dominque Robinson led them as a QB to a 30-28 victory in the final game at Fawcett Stadium.

Massillon defense came up big in the 1st quarter as they stopped McKinley’s offense on 4 straight plays inside the Tigers 3 yard line and then drove the length of the field 99 yards for a 7-0 lead late in the 1st quarter.

Massillon QB- Rasmus Haines ran for 2 touchdowns, while RB- Savior Owens racked up over 100 yards rushing and scored on a 7 yard run.

The Tigers other touchdown came from the defense in the 3rd quarter, when junior DE- Brydon Feister recovered a fumble and took it 57 yards for the score. K- Mateo Herrera added a field goal to round out the scoring for Massillon.

The OHSAA has Massillon’s record at (8-1), while McKinley saw its record fall to (7-3) after consecutive losses to Massillon and Jackson to close the regular season.

Both teams have qualified for the OHSAA Playoffs, McKinley in Division1/Region 1 and Massillon in Division 2/Region 7.
